Jean Marie Kasten, 72 of Emporia, Kansas died Monday, January 8, 2018 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
Jean was born October 28, 1945 in Beatrice, Nebraska the daughter of Glen “Mike” and Velma (Graham) Palmer. She was a mortgage processor for over 35 years having worked at Capitol Federal Savings and Loan, Citizens Mortgage Company and Lyon County State Bank before she retired 7 years ago. Jean was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia, and the Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed scrap booking, crafts, adult coloring, crossword puzzles, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and going for car rides in the evening with Dennis and the dogs.
Jean married Dennis Dean Kasten on February 13, 1966 in Emporia, Kansas. He survives of the home. Other survivors include: daughter Victoria “Vici” Reynolds of Emporia, brother Gary Palmer of White City, Kansas, grandsons Andrew Michael Reynolds and Brandon Scott Reynolds and great-grandchildren Evalyn Reynolds, Beau Reynolds, Clara Reynolds, Natalie Doughty and Annistyn Hadl. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Keith Palmer and Don Palmer and a sister Glenda Palmer.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia. Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier will be officiating. Inurnment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Latimer, Kansas at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Emporia Alzheimer’s Support Group or the Shriners Hospital for Children and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
