Jean Ann Wright

Jean Ann Wright was born March 8, 1955 in Emporia, Kansas and passed away March 8, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Dale and Jean Tyson Wright.


Ann was in the nursing profession all of her adult life. She was a 1973 graduate of Hartford High School. She graduated from Flint Hills Area Vocational Technical School Practical Nursing Program in 1974. She worked for several years as a LPN, then returned to the Newman School of Nursing where she received her nursing diploma.

While working at Newman Hospital in the Obstetrical Department, she attended and graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Emporia State University. She then received her Masters of Science in Nursing in the Family Practitioner tract from Wichita State University. She attended the University of Kansas and received a Post Masters in Nurse Midwifery. She worked as a Nurse Practitioner for Flint Hills Community Health Center.

She was a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and worked with SOS in Emporia. She enjoyed time with her many nieces and nephews.


She is survived by one brother, Lee Wright and wife Cindy of Corinth Texas; one sister, Jan Wright Smith and husband Mark of Mauldin, South Carolina; four nephews, Wade Wright, Justin and wife Kara Wright, all of Oklahoma; Ryan and wife Heather Smith and Eric Smith of South Carolina; four nieces, Amy and husband Leslie Pechacek of Arizona, Megan Montgomery of Texas, Beth Wright of Texas, and Stephanie and husband Matt Roy of Missouri; great-nieces, Peyton and Kendall Pechacek, TyLee Wright, and Angel and Olivia Roy; and great-nephews, Wyatt Pechacek, Will Montgomery, Hunter Roy, and Baylor, Kyson, and Easton Wright.


She was preceded in death by her father, Dale Wright; mother, Jean Tyson Wright; and brother, Dave Wright.

The family will receive friends at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home Friday evening, March 11, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Private inurnment will occur later in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Cremation is planned.
