Jeanette Hoy, 75, Emporia, Kansas, passed away at her home on Monday, October 13, 2014.
Frances Jeanette Hoy was born in Allen, Kansas, on April 8, 1939, the daughter of Ernest and Avanell (Bartram) Dilley.
Surviving family members include: her husband, John P. Hoy, of the home; daughter, Gina Adams, Emporia; son, Tom Hoy, Indio, California; her mother, Avenell Wagaman, Emporia; brother, Ronn Dilley, the Philippines; grandchildren, Michael and Kristi Adams, Emporia; and great-granddaughter, Melanie Adams. Also surviving are a nephew, Tim Krueger, and his children, Hunter and Lexie; and a niece, Shelley Cassedy and husband, Dan, and her daughter, Savannah; and Mr. Hoy’s sisters, Hallie Schoonamaker and Donna Harrington.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ernie; sister, Judy Krueger; and her in-laws, Frank and Rita Hoy; as well as Mr. Hoy’s brother, Tom.
Mrs. Hoy was a librarian at Emporia High School for 30 years, retiring 10 years ago. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia.
Cremation is planned. A memorial mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia, on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 1:00 P.M., celebrated by Father Tom Dolezal.
Due to the number of transfusions Jeanette received, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, friends make a donation of blood to their nearest blood bank.
