Jeannette Theresa Rowland

Jeannette Theresa Rowland, 88 of Shawnee, Kansas died Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Brookdale Shawnee Senior Living.

Jeannette Theresa Marcotte was born July 5, 1928 in Vermillion, South Dakota the daughter of Albert and Eva (Hubbert) Marcotte. Jeannette was a farm wife and worked in production at Dolly Madison Bakery in Emporia for 23 years until her retirement in 1991. She was a member Eskridge Catholic Church and various groups within the Church until it closed. Jeannette then moved her membership to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. She was a member of the Busy Bee’s Club and also enjoyed her luncheons with a group of retired Dolly Madison ladies.

Jeannette moved to the Emporia area as a child. She married Keith Edward Rowland on April 18, 1949 in Emporia, Kansas. He died July 2, 2004 at their home in Allen, Kansas. She is survived by a son Rodney K. Rowland and wife Sue of Bend, Oregon, daughters Karen Garn and husband Art of Eskridge, Kansas, Sharon K. Urban of Topeka, Kansas, and Sheila Fanning and husband Phil of Shawnee, Kansas, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter Theresa M. Rowland, son-in-law Dan Urban, brothers Lewis Marcotte and Virgil Marcotte, sisters Dora Bremenkamp and Velma Martin.

The Rosary will be recited 9:30 A.M. Friday, June 2, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. following the Rosary. Father Brandon Farrar of the church will be Celebrant. Interment will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery north of Admire, Kansas. The family will be having a dinner at the United Methodist Church in Eskridge following the interment.
