Jennifer Jane Eberle, 39, of Emporia, Kansas, died Thursday, November 1,
2012 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.
Jennifer was born June 3, 1973 in Urbana, Illinois, the daughter of William
M. and Jane Heide Eberle. She was a graduate of Manhattan High School
in Manhattan, Kansas and Highland Community College in Highland, Kansas.
She loved to read books and had an extensive library. Jennifer taught Sunday school and
volunteered several years at the community Thanksgiving dinner in Manhattan. Jennifer was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Manhattan. She loved
her dogs – Madison and Rosemary. Most recently Jennifer was a volunteer
in the Resource Center in the Emporia State University Teachers College.
Jennifer is survived by her parents, William and Jane; two sisters, Erin M.
Kahle; and husband Chris of Seattle, Washington, and Susan G. Short and
husband Brian of Clearwater, Kansas. One of her greatest pleasures was spending
time with her nieces, Rylan Abigail Kahle and Addisyn Brodii Short.
She is survived also by her aunt, Janice Heide of Lafayette, Indiana, and many cousins
whom she enjoyed visiting.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her grandparents, Marion J.and Harriette (Halstead) Eberle and Richard J. and Virginia L. (Wells) Heide, and several
aunts and uncles including her very special uncle, Joe Heide.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Thursday prior to the service. Pastor Andrew McHenry of the First Congregational Church in Emporia will be officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Emporia State University Teachers College Resource Center to be used for books and other educational materials, and be sent in care of the funeral home.
