On Friday January 23rd, we will be celebrating the life of Jerilynn Joy (Greig) Fish, devoted wife, loving mother, proud 'MeMa,' and cherished friend. Jeri went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 18, 2015 and will no longer be confined by ALS.
Jeri was born to Charles and Edith Greig of Emporia, February 13, 1953.
Jeri married her high school sweetheart, Dennis Fish, also of Emporia, and they had two children, Kevin Fish of Wichita and Karen (Fish) B'Hymer of Emporia, and welcomed daughter-in-law Candace and son-in-law Brett to their family. If you knew Jeri, then you have probably heard of and seen pictures of her grandkids- Krystian, Kennedy, Keaton, Kylie, and Kade Fish; and Corbin and Sidney B’Hymer.
Jeri was always active in her church, from singing in the choir, to leading the youth group, teaching Sunday School, and even serving by preparing meals and cleaning the church. She loved the Lord and loved to serve.
Jeri served in a variety of jobs throughout her life, but it was her time at the Emporia Christian School that meant the most to her.
Jeri was all about family. She loved and adored her brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She lit up talking about those she loved and could brighten a room with her infectious smile. Her closest friends were like family.
Jeri is survived by her husband Dennis and their children, as well as her parents, Charles and Edith Grieg; father-in-law, Leland Fish; sister and brother-in-law, Laurene (Fish) and Frank Alan; her sisters, Shirley (and husband Jim) Richardson, and Lonna Thomas; her brother, Charles (and wife Janice) Greig, all of Emporia; brother, Rick (and wife Marcia) Greig of Overland Park, Kansas; brother-in-law, David (and wife Donna) Campbell of Rose Hill, Kansas; 31 nieces and nephews (including their spouses); and 28 great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceeded in death by her sister, Davena Campbell; brother-in-law, Warren Thomas; and mother-in-law, Arlene Fish.
We will celebrate her life on Friday, January 23 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Emporia at 10:00 A.M. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 22 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, Jeri requests memorial funds to be given to Emporia Christian School or her Grandchildren’s Education Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
