Jessie Iora Drake, 76, of Emporia, Kansas, died December 30, 2011 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
Jessie Iora Drake was born June 25, 1935 in Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of Uire Aristide & Reva Mable (Essex) Drake.
Jessie was a production worker at Hetlinger Developmental Services in Emporia. She was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Emporia and was a Special Olympics Athlete. She loved her money, her dolls, dancing in her wheel chair, listening to music, and spending time with her family.
Jessie is survived by: three brothers, Rudy Drake of Emporia, Mark Drake of Emporia, and Billy Drake of Kansas City, Missouri; five sisters, Yvonne Johnson of Emporia, O. Shirley Long of Ottawa, Kansas, Donna Isabell Drake of Emporia, Marylin Sue Johnson of Inver Grove, Minnesota, and Pamela Jane Drake of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Paul Odel Drake and Berryman Uire Drake.
Cremation is planned, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Church of the New Covenant, Emporia. Inurnment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Emporia.
