JA “Jim” Stubenhofer of Emporia died on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Aberdeen Village in Olathe, Kansas. He was 85.
Jim was born on January 24, 1933 in Elmdale, Kansas the son of Karl and Bertha Bechelmayr Stubenhofer. He married Dona Sheridan on June 21, 1958 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Strong City, Kansas. She survives.
Surviving family members include: wife, Dona of the home; son, Scot Stubenhofer and wife Robin of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Beth Stubenhofer, Alex Stubenhofer, and Sam Stubenhofer.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Howard Stubenhofer; sisters, Ruth Holmberg, and Josephine Grant.
Jim worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 45 years as an Engineer. After retirement Jim was known for handling sales, maintenance and repairing golf carts in the area. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. Jim served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion. Jim and along with his wife Dona were avid followers of Kansas State and Emporia State athletics.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia with burial following at Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas with military honors. The rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia with the family receiving friends following. Memorial contributions to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Emporia State Women’s Softball can be sent in care of the funeral home.
