Jo Ann Lapping

Jo Ann Lapping, age 96, of Emporia, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the Holiday Resort Care Center in Emporia. Born on April 14, 1928, in Hamilton, Kansas, she was the daughter of Fred and Mable Edwards Kelley. Jo married Joe J. Lapping on July 16, 1955, in Hamilton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2022, in Emporia.

Jo is survived by her sons, Kelley Joe Lapping of Emporia, and Paul J. Lapping and his wife Ronda of Wichita, Kansas. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Levi Lapping, Kori Rael Lapping, and Teagan Grace Lapping, and her great-grandson, Hogarth Joe Lapping. Her nieces, Susan Kelley, Sandra Lewis, Sally Kelley, and Sara Kelley, also survive her.

Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, and her brother, Frank Kelley.

Jo was a dedicated Motel Owner for 13 years and Bookkeeper for 57 years, contributing significantly to her community.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the same location, with burial following at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
