Johanna Rumsey, 52, Emporia, Kansas, died at Stormont-Vail Medical Center, Topeka, Kansas, on Thursday, April 2, 2015.
Johanna Nielsen was born at Emporia on October 22, 1962, the daughter of J. J. and Helen (McElfresh) Nielsen. She married Jerry Rumsey February 4, 1994 in Emporia, Kansas. He survives of the home.
Besides her husband, Jerry, Johanna is survived by: her son, Justin (Melissa) Nielsen, Leon, Oklahoma; daughters, Lindsey (Justin) Nurnberg, Emporia, Chauncy (Alan) Hucke, Parson, Kansas; her parents, J.J. and Helen Nielsen, Allen, Kansas; sister, Vicki (David) Jones, Americus, Kansas; and eight grandchildren, Jade and Andrew Tacy, Scarlett and Amelia Hucke, and Trevor, Mariah, Triston, and Matthew Nielsen.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Veronica Nielsen.
Cremation is planned. A graveside committal service will be held in Americus Cemetery, Americus, Kansas, on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. The service will be conducted by Pastor Andrew McHenry, First Congregational Church, Emporia.
