John R. Calaman, 80, of Emporia died at his home Friday, January 27, 2017.
The graveside service will be Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Americus Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Pastor Kenneth Armstrong of the West Side Baptist Church. Military Honors will be by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
John Raymond Calaman, the son of Stewart LeRoy and Florence Orshal-Calaman was born on February 7, 1936 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He married Wenona Lavon Deckwa in Salina in 1959. She preceded him in death in 2004.
John is survived by three sons, John W. Calaman and Gaylord Dean Calaman both of Emporia and Robert Eugene Calaman of St. Petersburg, FL; a daughter Alverine Calaman of Emporia; two sisters, Mildred Walters and Stella Kuetz both of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and two sisters.
He was a veteran of the Air Force, and worked for IBP (Tyson) for 37 years.
