John Michael Lantow

John Michael Lantow, 70, of Emporia, Kansas, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at his home.

John was born November 24, 1943 in Beloit, Wisconsin, the son of Alfred and Sophie (Kleczewski) Lantow.  John Married Muriel Groundwater on December 16, 1972 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include: son, Dustin Lantow of Emporia; stepdaughter, Lorrie Smith of Wichita, Kansas; and brother, Paul Lantow of Rockford, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister that was stillborn, and his son-in-law, W. Raymond Smith.

John was a rancher all of his life, raising registered Hereford and Simmental cattle. He served in U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. John was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion, Emporia.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, March 31, 2014 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia. Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier of the church will be officiating. The Family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. to service time Monday at the church. Inurnment will be at 1:30 P.M. Monday, March 31, 2014 in Chicago Mound Cemetery in Emporia with Military Honors by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the All Veteran’s Memorial or Messiah Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
