John F. Rossillon, 75, Olpe, Kansas, died at his home on Thursday, March 7, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer.
Mr. Rossillon was a retired businessman and investor. He was previously president of Great Plains Corporation in the 1980s, vice president of Becker Corporation in the 1970s and worked as a Marketing Manager for Brunswick Corporation in the 1960s.
Mr. Rossillon was born October 5, 1937 in Emporia, Kansas, to Emil and Mary T. (Gorman) Rossillon. He graduated from the new Olpe High School and attended Saint Benedict’s College, Atchison, Kansas, for one year, and graduated with a chemistry degree from Emporia State University in 1959.
Mr. Rossillon was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and the Alexis Chapter of the Knights of Columbus in Olpe. He was an enthusiastic Kansas University basketball fan, and sporting enthusiast who traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada to hunt and fish with friends and family members. He also traveled throughout Europe and especially enjoyed tracing the family heritage in France. He generously shared his home at Gloria’s Ranch with family and friends.
Mr. Rossillon is survived by his sisters, Rosanne Moore of Augusta, Kansas, and Patricia Johnson of New Ulm, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Yvonne Rossillon of Emporia; special friend, Merle Bolz of Wichita, Kansas; seventeen nieces and nephews; and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joseph; and a niece, Mary Pat Johnson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe, with Father John Cordes, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe.
The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M., Monday evening, March 11, 2013 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. The Casket will remain closed.
Memorials have been established with Saint Joseph Catholic Church or the Mary T. Rossillon Scholarship Fund at Emporia State University. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
