John Lewis Scheve, 78, of Emporia, Kansas died Monday, October 8, 2012 at Holiday Resort Care Center in Emporia.
John Lewis Scheve was born November 15, 1933 on the family farm south of Olpe, Kansas, the son of John and Martha (Thill) Scheve. John married Mary Ann Ripperger on April 14, 1956 in Rose Mount, Iowa. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include: sons, Douglas Scheve of Canyon, Texas, Daniel Scheve of Bucyrus, Kansas and Scott Scheve of Emporia; daughters, Theresa Shepherd of Rock, Kansas, and Debbie Williams of Emporia; sisters, Theresa Redeker of Olpe, Bertha Trear of Olpe, and Mary Lou Burenheide of Topeka, Kansas; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Charles Scheve, Lawrence Scheve, Ralph Scheve, and Edward Scheve; sisters, Eleanor Schneider, Geneva Schneider; and an infant sister.
John was a farmer for many years, and worked as a Master Plumber for 30 years, having worked for Burnap Brothers Plumbing and Quality Plumbing before starting his own plumbing company – John Scheve Plumbing. He retired in 1997. John was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia, Knights of Columbus, and had served on the Building Trades Board.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. Father Rich Warsnak will be the Celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Friday, October 12, 2012 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Inurnment will be in Maydale Cemetery southeast of Olpe.
