Johnny Joe Christopher, Emporia, Kansas, passed away March 19, 2024, at Newman Regional Hospital in Emporia. He was 73 years old.
Johnny was born on April 5, 1950, in Los Angeles, California, the son of Llewelyn D. and Ruby Dora (Lassley) Christopher. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served from 1969-1973, where he obtained the rank of Sargent GWRRA AMA. He moved to Kansas in 1975, and married Teresa Marie Mahoney in Tonganoxie, Kansas, on May 21, 1977. They later divorced.
Survivors include sons Rudolph Clarence Alfred Christopher II, Emporia, KS; Harry Calman Joseph Christopher, Emporia, KS; Elijah Matthew John Christopher, East Coast; Gabriel Michael Abraham Christopher, CA; brothers Richard L. Christopher, Downey, CA; Jerry D. (Arlene) Christopher, Charlotte, NC; and sisters Linda S. Christopher, Downey, CA; Darlene DeWater, Ft. Smith, AR.
Johnny worked as a postal carrier for the Emporia United States Postal Service for 32 years. He also enjoyed being a part of the Flint Hills Touring Club
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Danny K. Christopher, sister Shirley Ann Christopher, and step brother Edgar Wayne Hoag.
Cremation is planned. Memorial service will take place Monday, April 8, 2024, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral home at 10:00 A.M. A private family graveside service will be held later at Fancy Creek Cemetery in Randolph, Kansas.
