Jonce Curtis Haas, 88, of Emporia, Kansas, and formerly of Denver, Colorado, died on April 15, 2012 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
Jonce was born on October 1, 1923 in Bridgeport, Nebraska, the son of Earl Wolpert and Violet Delana Hill. He married Kathleen Francis Dudley in Evansville, Colorado on September 16, 1943. She died in 1967 in Henderson, Colorado.
He is survived by: daughter, Jacqueline C. Haas of Sedgwick, Kansas; grandsons, Howard (Vicki) Shuss of Emporia, and Eric Dean (Johnna) Shuss of Sedgwick; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Carl Emerson; and a grandson, Bryan Carl Shuss.
Jonce was a civil worker for the military for 11 years. He later worked for the Denver Post Office; Adams City Pump Company in Adams City, Colorado; was a mechanic at a truck stop in Adams City; a cement batch plant operator at Adams City Manufacturing; Canon City D.A.V.; and later was the maintenance supervisor at Westminster Mall in Westminster, Colorado. Jonce was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Cremation has taken place, with a private memorial service to be held at a later date. Memorial contributions to the H. Dale Buck Fund or A.S.P.C.A. may be sent in care of the funeral home.
