Joseph G. Andrade

Joseph G. Andrade, 84, Emporia, passed away at his home on Friday, December 6, 2019.

Joseph was born in Richmond, Missouri on September 26, 1935, the son of Joe C. and Connie (Gomez) Andrade.  He married Magdalene “Sally” Kirkland on July 14, 1956 in Fairway, Kansas. She survives.

Besides his wife, Joseph is survived by his son; Joseph A. (Carrie C.) Andrade, Manhattan, Kansas, daughters; Karen T. (John) Madrigal, Emporia, Jane A. (Daniel) Thurman, Leeton, MO, and Tina M. Andrade, Emporia, sisters; Juanita Ball, Belton, Mo, Mary Kay Settle, Kansas City, Mo, and Theresa Davis, Overland Park, KS. Grandchildren; Paula Dodge, Kendra Richardson, Robert Andrade, Jane Whealon, Anthony W. “TJ” Andrade, Carrie E. Andrade, Alexandria R. Andrade, Chance J. Andrade, Dirk W. Andrade, and Emily R. Hedglin, and great-grandchildren; Marquise Richardson, Aliaize Richardson, Drake Andrade, Ezabella Andrade, Addison Whealon, Theresa Ann Whealon, Nathan Vosburg, Olivia Vosburg, and Zephyr L. Hedglin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Paul and Ralph Andrade (who died at 3 months) and great-grandson; Markell Richardson, his grandparents; Papa Juan and Paula Gomez, and great-grandfather, Papa Ralph Andrade.

Mr. Andrade was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Overland Park, Kansas. He worked as an inspector for the Ford Motor Company plant in Claycomo, MO for 39 years and retired February 1, 2006.  He was a former member of the United Auto Workers Union.  Mr. Andrade and his wife, Sally, had lived in Emporia since October of 2012.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Emporia, on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Brandon Farrar, celebrant.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 11 at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.  The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 8:30 P.M.
