Joseph Richard Blanck, 90, formerly of Lamont, Kansas passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
Joseph Richard Blanck, the son of Joseph Daniel and Mildred Elizabeth Weaver Blanck, was born September 12, 1922 at the family homestead in Lamont.
Richard was an infantry man with the U.S. Army in WWII, serving from 1942 to 1945. He was a farmer, and worked for Leroy Thompson, Shellrock Township and Sauder Grain Elevator, Madison, Kansas. He was a longtime member of Lamont Wesleyan Church, where he also taught Sunday school.
He is survived by two nieces, Patricia Page of Omaha, Nebraska and Jennifer Kvas of Emporia; and a nephew, Joe Kvas of Admire, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Thelma Gladys Johnson.
His funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 19, 2012 at Lamont Wesleyan Church, with Rev. Steve McVey officiating. Burial will follow in Lena Valley Cemetery near Lamont. Military Honors will be presented by Fort Riley Honor Unit.
The family will visit with friends Friday at the church from 10:00A.M. until the service time. Memorial contributions to Lamont Wesleyan Church may be sent in care of the funeral home.
