Joseph A. "Joey" Atchison

Memorial Services for Joseph A. “Joey” Atchison, 38, Tonganoxie, KS, will be held on Saturday, December 1 at 11:00 A.M. at the Cornerstone Family Worship Center, Tonganoxie, Kansas, conducted by Pastor Ron Swaim of the church. The family will receive friends an hour before service time. Mr. Atchison died November 4, 2018 at the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City. Cremation has occurred.

Joseph A. Atchison was born in Emporia, Kansas on June 20, 1980, the son of Clarence and Kelly (Zabriskie) Atchison. Joey and Molly Gfeller-Moore were married at Emporia, Kansas on July 29, 2000.  She survives of the home.

Besides his wife, Molly, he is survived by his children; Bryce Allan, Sadie Claire, Allie Marie, and twins Chloe Kathleen and Jayce Theodore “Teddy”. His mother; Kelly (Norman) Truelove, Lebo, KS, Father; Clarence (Michelle) Atchison, Lyndon, KS, brothers; Justin Scott Atchison, Lebo, KS, and Step-brother; Patrik Truelove, Hartford, KS.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jeremiah, and his grandparents.

Joey served in the United States Air Force from 1997 to 1999. He was a graduate of Class 180 of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in 2005. He was a certified law enforcement officer holding several certificates and awards. He was employed with the Lebo (Kansas) Police Department as an officer and briefly Chief, the Lyon County Sheriff Department as a Corrections Officer and Deputy, and for the last seven years served as an agent for the State of Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission.
