Joy passed away peacefully in Hospice care at The Gardens at Aldersgate in Topeka, Kansas on March 31, 2026, after a courageous long-term illness. Joy was 64.

Joy was born in Eldorado, Ks to Jack G. & Dorothy J. Strawderman. Joy last of four daughters. Joy graduated from Lawrence High in 1980. Joy moved & lived in many zip codes & wore many hats before making Emporia her home with her son Jeff. Joy opened J-Mo's bar & karaoke business. Joy traveled all around Emporia bring fun & laughter with her songs, including " I love this bar" by Toby Keith, one song regularly requested. These were the happiest days of Joys life.

Joy was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey A. Morgan in 2006; Sister Tressa C. Finley in 2006 & Father Jack G. Strawderman in 2002.

Joy is survived by her mother, Dorothy J. Strawderman (Emporia); sisters Carolyn S. Williams (Colorado) & Jacky L. Tidwell (Lawrence, Ks). Many nephews, nieces. Sometimes the best family isn't blood. Rick & Bonnie Rose of Lawrence, Ks has been the best support to Joy in her life. Joy called them Aunt & Uncle.

A memorial service time & place will be announced at a later date.

Cremation entrusted to Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.
