Joyce Elizabeth Grimsley

Joyce E. Grimsley, rural Americus, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Sunflower Legacy Care Center, Emporia, at the age of 87.

Joyce Elizabeth Davidson was born February 23, 1936 in Allen, Kansas, the daughter of Eugene and Wilma (Karr) Davidson.  Joyce married Jack Grimsley on January 21, 1955 in Emporia, Kansas. He died June 24, 2018. She is survived by her son; Larry (Wanda) Grimsley, Emporia, Kansas, daughters; Deb (Doug) Hemry, Tucson, AZ, Rhonda (Rick) Robidou, Americus, Kansas, Denise (Keith) Foster, Emporia, Kansas, and Michelle Grimsley, Reno, Nevada, brother; Lloyd (Anne) Davidson, Salina, Kansas, grandchildren; Kari Wedel, Ashley Bennett, Megan Williams, Kristy Dekat, Colby Fuller, Kelsey Keith, and Jaimee Foster, great-grandchildren;  Evan and Lily Bennett, Colin and Dean Wedel, Bodie Keith, Kairi Dekat, and Haven Williams.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and her brother, Bryce, and his wife, Deloris Davidson.

She was a member of the Americus United Methodist Church, the Newman Hospital Auxiliary, where she was a volunteer. She was a 4-H Volunteer and Supporter and had also volunteered at a local food pantry.

Joyce worked as a Teacher Aide with USD #251, North Lyon County, and later served as Office Manager for GSI in Americus.

Cremation is planned. A Memorial Service will be held at the Americus United Methodist Church, Americus, Kansas on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends following the service.  Private family inurnment will occur at a later date.

The family requests no flowers, memorials have been established for the Americus United Methodist Church or Emporia Friends of the Zoo.  Contributions may be sent to Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Kansas 66801, which is assisting with arrangements.
