Juanita Mae McHugh, 98, Emporia, Kansas and formerly of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died Saturday, December 18, 2016 at Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia.
Juanita Mae Ellis was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on May 3, 1918, the daughter of Joseph Elam and Blanche May (Cook) Ellis. She married Joseph Blackburn McHugh in Bartlesville on July 16, 1937. He died November 12, 1982.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Bartlesville. The service will be conducted by Pastor Tari Carbaugh, of First United Methodist Church, Bartlesville.
The family will receive friends at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, Kansas on Monday, December 26, 2016 from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Surviving Juanita is her daughter, Jolynn M. Sweet, and her husband, Robert, Emporia; daughter-in-law, Margaret McHugh, Canton, Kansas; grandchildren, Cindy Breeden, B.J. Sweet, and Gary Leon McHugh; nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Gary.
Mrs. McHugh was a housewife. She was a former member of First United Methodist Church, Bartlesville, and while in Emporia she attended Grace United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Abigail Circle.
