Judith Marie Edwards, known to many as Judy, passed away peacefully at her home in Emporia, Kansas, on January 7, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on March 21, 1950, in Eureka, Kansas, she was the beloved daughter of Charles and Denzel Dixon Mason.
Judy was a dedicated worker, having started her career at Food Town and later serving as a supervisor in customer service at Valu-line and Birch Telecom. Her commitment to her work was matched by her devotion to her faith as a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Edwards, whom she married on March 29, 2009, in Emporia. Judy also leaves behind her daughter, Tracy Chavez, and grandchildren, Alex and Isayah Chavez, all of Emporia. Her brothers, Terry Mason of Lake City, Oregon, and Alan Mason of Olathe, Kansas, also survive her.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Denzel Dickson Mason.
A memorial service to celebrate Judy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the First Church of the Nazarene. Cremation is planned, and those wishing to honor her memory may send memorial contributions to the Shilo House, in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
