Judith Ann Tufts, 66, died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at her home north of Emporia.
Judith Ann Gehring was born Dec. 18, 1949, in Topeka, the daughter of Joseph and Ann (Beasterfeld) Gehring. She married John H. Tufts on May 19, 1973, in Reading.
Mrs. Tufts is survived by her husband; daughters, Jennifer Munday (Jason), Emporia, and Jessica Tufts (Sherman Smith), Topeka; mother, Ann Gehring, Olpe, Kansas; brothers, Steve Gehring of Allen, Kansas, Dave Gehring of Madison, Kansas, Matt Gehring of Olpe, Joseph Gehring Jr. of Americus, Kansas, and Tim Gehring, Joplin, Missouri; sisters, Anna Moore of Madison, and JoAnn Payton, Emporia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Neal P. Tufts, and her father.
Before her marriage, she worked at the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Lyon County Rural Electric Cooperative, where she met her husband. After marriage she remained home to care for her family.
Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home is assisting with cremation arrangements. The family will hold a private service.
