Kathryn “Kay” Scott Andersen, 101, of Emporia died on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
Kathryn was born on March 7, 1916 in Lakefield, Minnesota the daughter of Laurin and Lucile Parkinson Scott. She married Fred B. Andersen on July 1, 1943 in Riverside, California. He died on October 5, 1989 in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Surviving family members include: daughters, Trish Azbill of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kristin Andersen and husband Scott McEachron of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kathy Waters and husband Scott of Emporia, Pam Schwartz and husband Dale of Mandan, North Dakota; sister, Patricia Volkmar of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; grandchildren: Drew Waters and wife Katie, Austin Waters, Alexandra Strehlow and husband Cole, Noelle Flanagin and husband Nathaniel, Natalie Waters, Brandon Azbill and wife Lauren, and Morgan Azbill; great-grandchildren, Lincoln Waters, Henry Waters, Samuel Waters, Hudson Azbill and Adelaide Strehlow.
She is preceded in death by her husband.
Kathryn was a legal secretary for many years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Cremation is planned with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 23 in the chapel at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. Private family burial will take place later at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bismarck, North Dakota. Memorial contributions to the Emporia Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund can be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
