Ken Powell

Ken Powell, 67, Emporia, Kansas, passed away Sunday July 5, 2026.

Ken was born in Newton, Kansas on October 24, 1958, the son of Donald and Ramona (Fitzpatrick) Powell, Sr. He married Carrie Lynn Andrews May 27, 1978 in Louisburg, Kansas. She survives him. Also surviving are daughter; Michelle Powell, Kansas City, Missouri, sons; Andrew Powell and wife Lupe, Dayton, Ohio, and Todd Powell, Grand Junction, Colorado, sisters; Jeannette Ast, Emporia, Kansas, and Linda Wood, Rowlette, Texas, grandchildren; Katarina, Lillian, Gabriel, Kyle, Emily, Karizma, Mailani, Jorden, Corduroy, and Rosie, great-granddaughter; Natalie.

He was retired from the Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Station at New Strawn, Kansas, where he worked at a scheduler. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Emporia, Kansas.

Cremation is planned. Family inurnment services will be at a later date in La Cygne, Kansas. A Celebration of Ken’s (Leroy’s) life will be held on July 18, 2026 from 3-5 pm in the conference room at Flint Hills Technical College.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue or the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter in Emporia. Contributions may be sent through Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Kansas 66801, which is assisting with arrangements
