Kenneth Dean Eccles of Madison passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at his home in Madison. He was 80.
Kenny was born on July 4, 1945, in Gridley, Kansas, the son of Perry and Betty Neely Eccles. He married Jeanette Rohr Ketcheside on January 1, 2000, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, making their home in Berryville, Arkansas before moving back to Madison to be closer to family.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Eccles of Madison; stepdaughter, Robin Brown of Wichita; grandchildren, Brandi (Gabe) Richardson of Wichita, Amber (Mark) Meyer of Hartford, Joel Gleue of Leroy, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Audrey Meyer of Manhattan, Chloe Gosney of Burlington, Cami Gosney of Hartford, Zayden Gleue of Iola, and Ryder Stone of Hartford.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gene, Lee and Roy Eccles, sister Donna Scott, half-sisters, Nadine, Ethel, and Gladys, and half-brothers Glen, Raymond, and Harvey.
Kenny received his high school diploma in Illinois. He later joined the United States Army and spent 2 tours in Vietnam touring in Korea and Thailand. He earned several medals in the service. Kenny received his Ford Senior Master Technician working in Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas. He enjoyed being with his family, reading, playing pitch, camping, fishing, boating, skating, cruising, working on vehicles and restoring them, gardening, flowers, grilling, cooking and the occasional trips to the casinos.
Kenny did not have any children/grandchildren of his own, but when he married Jeanette, he gained several. Kenny fulfilled the grandfather’s role with so much love and affection.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Gridley Christian Church in Gridley with burial following with Military Honors at the Gridley Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Coffey County Cancer Support Group can be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
