Kim Lea Lawson, 55, of Wichita, Kansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 29, 2013.

Kim Lea Richardson was born December 18, 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Phillip and Willowdean (Byrd) Richardson. She was a beloved daughter, wife, and mother, who dedicated her life to the education of many.

She taught first grade in Andover, Kansas for over twenty years. Following completion of her Master of Education in School Counseling, she accepted a position at William Allen White Elementary in Wichita. Kim prided herself on being a life-long learner and sought to inspire others to do the same. She was a brilliant pianist and gifted storyteller. She made the world around her beautiful.

Kim is survived by her parents of Emporia, Kansas; daughter, Kristen Brandt Ferate (Anthony Joseph Ferate) of Yukon, Oklahoma; son, Caley Adam Lawson of Kansas City, Missouri; brother, Phillip Scott Richardson of Arkansas City, Kansas; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Phenya Richardson and Lindsay and Grace Byrd.

A public celebration of life will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wichita. Pastor Dan Myers will officiate. Those attending are encouraged to wear color and sparkles.
