L. Karen Johnson, Emporia, Kansas, passed away at her home on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the age of 76.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Lorraine Bailey, First Christian Church. Private family interment in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
Linda Karen Holtan was born January 3, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Arnold G. and Maryan Louise Holtan. She married John H. Johnson January 19, 1957 in Oklahoma. He died May 13, 2010 in Emporia.
Surviving family members include her son, J. Michael Johnson of Moberly, Missouri, her daughter Kathie J. Butcher and Jeff, Donna, Texas, grandchildren Courtney Butcher and Emily and Brian Butcher and Kylie, and great-grandchildren Corbin Timperley, Benjamin, PJ, and Haley Butcher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Sandra Clay Calvin.
Karen was an EMT and worked at the Lyon County Courthouse as a secretery. She was a a member of the Women’s Golf Association at the Emporia Country Club, the Emporia Social Service Club. She enjoyed oil painting and golf.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
A memorial has been established with Emporia Friends of the Zoo, Shriner’s and John and Karen Johnson Family Scholarship at Emporia State University. Contributions may be sent to the funeral home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
