Lafayette Charles Greischar, 88, died July 14 at Villa St. Francis in Olathe KS. Lafayette Greischar, the son of Lafayette Sr. & Ellen Krehbeil Greischar was born March 5, 1929 in Emporia, Kansas. He married Eileen Dingman June 18, 1955 in Fort Madison, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife Eileen, his parents and one granddaughter Allison Draper.
He is survived by five children: Karen Draper of Phoenix, AZ, Jo Ellen Greischar-Billiard (Gregory Billiard) of Lenexa, KS, David Greischar of Shawnee, KS, Julie Noble (Kevin Noble) of Danville, CA and Mark Greischar of Olathe, KS and seven grandchildren Joshua Draper, Andrew Billiard, Sara Billiard, Alec Noble, Connor Noble, Charlie Noble, Jenna Greischar & Leah Greischar.
Mr. Greischar received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from ESU in 1950. He served in the Army from 1951-1953 as a Corporal stationed with the Counter intelligence Corps at Ft. Holabird, Baltimore, MA. After his tour of duty he moved to Kansas City, MO working as a salesman at Swift Packing Company. He and his wife moved to Emporia in late 1955 to assist his father in the operation of the Mit-Way Billiard Parlor which he sold in 1961. He then owned Dog & Suds and Earl of Sandwich restaurants for many years. Prior to retirement he managed the Carpet Plus for ten years. Mr. Greischar moved to the Kansas City area in 2009 to be closer to his children.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church all of his years in Emporia and a member of the American Legion for 48 years. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be sent to Villa Saint Francis, 16600 W. 126th St. Olathe, KS 66062 in memory of Lafayette Greischar.
The viewing will be held on July 17th at Roberts Blue Barnett Funeral Home at 5:00 p.m. where friends may call. The rosary service will follow at 6:00 p.m. The funeral will be held on July 18th at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church followed by a graveyard service.
