Lannette "Lanny" Susan Linebarger

Lannette “Lanny” Susan Linebarger of Emporia, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at the Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia. She was 78.

Lanny was born on March 21, 1947, in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd P. and Pauline Smith Mounkes. She married Dennis Linebarger on August 31, 1968 in Emporia.

Surviving family members include her husband, Dennis Linebarger; sons, Christopher (Carla Raper) Linebarger of Emporia, and Bradley (Colleen Byrnes) Linebarger of Sorrento, Florida; grandchildren, Josie Watts, Casey Linebarger, Quinn Linebarger, Bryce Linebarger, and three step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Mason Watts, Lyla Mae Alvarado, and Espen Watts.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and a stepsister.

Lanny worked for Lyon County State Bank, ESB Financial, and Emporia State Federal Credit Union for a total of 25 years. After that, Lanny didn’t slow down. Lanny was the Deputy County Clerk for Lyon County for 24 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporia and was involved in the Lyon County Crimestoppers.

Cremation is planned. The visitation is planned for 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 23, 2026. Memorial Service at the First United Methodist Church, Emporia at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2026, with burial following Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
