Larry G. Colglazier, 85, Emporia, Kansas, passed away at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
Larry Gene Colglazier was born in Emporia, Kansas on March 15,1940, the son of Lee and Dollie (Bigler) Colglazier. Larry and Judy Laing were united in marriage on May 14, 1965 at First Congregational Church, Emporia, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include their three children; son: Michael Colglazier (Sherry Windle), Hartford, Kansas, daughters; Stacy Shellenberger (John), Purdy, Missouri, and Michelle McClintick (John), Emporia, one brother; Gary Colglazier, Hartford, Kansas, grandchildren; Kelly Shellenberger, Erika Dwight, Carlee Gwisdala, Sara McClintick, Ashley McClintick, and Lindsee Ratzlaff, great-grandchilren; Keaton and Kaiden Shellenberger, Aria Dwight, Axel Dwight, Jaxon Hamby, and Carter Ratzlaff. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosalie Christy.
He was a graduate of Hartford (Kansas) High School in the class of 1958. Larry served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962 and was stationed in Frankfort, Germany. He worked a number of years for the Didde-Glaser Corporation and later Western Motors, both in Emporia. Larry was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather and great grandfather, whose greatest joy was his family. He enjoyed KU Basketball, ESU sports, the Kansas City Chiefs, fishing at Soden’s Grove Bridge and hunting.
Larry has gone home to be with the Lord, and is now resting in the arms of his Savior. Forever loved, never forgotten.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Military Services will be provided by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion. Private family inurnment service will be in the Hartford Cemetery, Hartford, Kansas.
A memorial has been established for the Emporia All Veterans Memorial. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
