Larry Dean Hall was born January 24, 1948, in Emporia, KS, the son of Howard Hanson and Iola J. (Keller) Hall. Larry entered heaven on December 15, 2018.

After graduation from Reading High School Larry was employed at Temp & Company. Joining the United States Army, he proudly served his country as a Ranger in the 71 st Infantry, Company M conducting Long Range Reconnaissance Patrols and then as a helicopter gunner in Vietnam.

After returning from Vietnam, Larry continued his service in the Reserves and later become an Army recruiter.

After his service, while he lived in Manitou Springs, Colorado, Larry managed an automotive store and worked for a towing company. Returning to Emporia he drove long-haul loads for various trucking company. He loved sharing stories of hauling loads into Disney World in Florida, boat propellers into San Francisco and those trips of ice road trucking through the Northwestern Territories of Canada and into Alaska. Larry enjoyed working with his friends Leonard Dieker at Dieker Dairy and Kevin Dieker at Dieker RV Sales and Services.

As a tribute to those who served in Vietnam, Larry created “My Tour 365” a memorial trailer to honor those who served our country. He took pride in the traveling exhibit which he hauled to numerous Veterans Reunions and Services throughout Kansas, Missouri, and to Sturgis, South Dakota.

Larry had a love for cars; from racing cars when he lived in Colorado to restoring and building reproduction vehicles. His favorites included a 1930 Ford Rat Rod; 1931 Ford Coupe, 1932 Ford Roaster and numerous M38A1 Military Jeeps.

Larry was a life time member of the 75 th Infantry Ranger Association, Society of Vietnam Rangers; Disabled American Legion #36; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1980; and American Legion Post 323.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James (Jimmy) Hall and Alvin Hall.   He is survived by his friend for life, Vanda Stephens; one God-Daughter Cami Dieker; one brother, Terry Hall (Jenann); nephews Henry (Melissa) Hall of Burlington, KS and Mark (Pat) Hall of Emporia along with several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21 from 6-7 p.m., at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 10 a.m., at Calvary Chapel Fellowship of Emporia, 1130 East Ninth Ave., services provided by Pastor Brad Bowen. Interment will be at Union Cemetery, Lyon County. Military Honors by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Chapel Fellowship and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
