Larry Duane Kehres of rural Olpe passed away at his farm on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. He was 72.
Larry was born on December 27, 1952 in Emporia, the son of Warren and Bernadine Nuessen Kehres. He married Cynthia Jean Burnell on June 12, 1976, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia Jean Kehres of the home; son, Dustin (Nicole) Kehres of Leawood; daughter, Lindsay (Travis) Bolen of Emporia; grandchildren, Tanner (Lacey) Bolen, Lakyn Bolen, Brayden, Hannah, Ellie, and Cecilia Kehres; great-grandson Grayson Bolen; sisters, Patricia (Ron) Boline of Olathe, Rhonda (Tom) Malcolm of Baldwin City and Mary Richter; sister-in-law, Karen Burnell (Mark) Haag. He is also loved by many numerous nieces and nephews, Kehres and Nuessen Cousins, as well as many lifelong friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Larry graduated from Olpe High School and attended Kansas State Teacher College. He worked for many years at Didde Graphics until it closed. After that he finished out his years at VEKTEK. But throughout those years he was a Farmer. Enjoying the land and nature taking over the family farm.
Cremation is planned with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with visitation following from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Parish Life Center in Olpe. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Maydale Cemetery south of Olpe. Memorial contributions to the Olpe Knights of Columbus or the Olpe Splash Pad can be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. 175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
