Larry G. Myers, 63, of rural Americus, Kansas, died November 30, 2011 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia, Kansas.
Larry was born on May 3, 1948 in Emporia, the son of Clifford and Virginia Dieker Myers. He married Camilla J. Fay on January 31, 1967 at First Congregational Church in Emporia. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include: sons, Evan Myers of Emporia, Brian Myers of Americus, and Jared L. Myers of Sgt. Bluff, Iowa; grandchildren, Kayla E. and Nathan L. Myers of Sgt. Bluff; step-granddaughter, Kimberly Pease of Ft. Polk, Louisiana; step-great-grandson, Gabriel Pease of Ft. Polk; sisters, Linda Collins and Tamie Vahsholtz, both of Emporia, Sue Henry of Nevada, Nancy Myers-Rhoads of Topeka, Mary Palmer of Del Rio, Texas, and Gina Easley of Eagle Rock, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents who raised him, Ralph and Carrie Myers; and two infant sisters, Shari and Carolyn Myers.
Larry was a maintenance superintendent at Bunge North America in Emporia for 44 years. He retired nine months ago. He was a member of Americus Jaycees; Lucky 13 Camping Club, where he was a past president; Campers and Hikers Association; Frost 4-H; and was also a Hunter Safety Instructor.
Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2011 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The service will be conducted by Pastor Andrew McHenry of First Congregational Church, Emporia. A private inurnment will take place at Americus Cemetery in Americus.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon, December 4, 2011, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to Sertoma Miniature Train Fund or Americus Playscape Project may be sent in care of the funeral home.
