Laurie Jo Schubert Davis

Laurie Jo Schubert Davis, 70, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away in the loving arms of her daughter on January 6, 2025.

Laurie was born in Hays Kansas on November 10th, 1954 , the daughter of Carroll and Lorene (Ericson) Schubert. She was joined in marriage to Rodney Thomas, September 1976, they were later divorced. Laurie is survived by her daughter, Stacie Mae Thomas Heckathorn (Ryan) of Neosho Rapids, KS., Grandson Landon Thomas (Hayley) great grandchildren Beau and Sophie of New Strawn, KS. Sister Suzie Kaniper (Ken) of Silver Lake, KS and nephews Steve and Alan Kaniper and families. Laurie is also survived by many dear friends she considered family and her beloved pets.

She received her Bachelors degree in elementary education from Emporia State and spent the entirety of her teaching career at Americus Elementary/Jr high, taking great pride in all of her students.

Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25,2025 at 1:00 pm at Roberts Blue Barnett Funeral home in Emporia ,KS. A memorial has been established to the Emporia Friends of the Zoo with contributions sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. box #175, Emporia KS 66801, which is in charge of arrangements.
