Leanna Jean Base

Leanna Jean Base of Emporia, died on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.  She was 78.

Leanna was born on December 12, 1945, at the Quinter Hospital in Quinter, Kanas the daughter of Norris Charles and Edna Mae Spillman Easton.  She graduated from Quinter High School.  Leanna married Jerry Heinen in 1967 in Quinter, Kansas.  They later divorced.  She later married Duane Base in Hutchinson, Kansas.  They later divorced.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa D. (Steven) Tye of Emporia, and Teresa J. (Katie) Vincent of Derby; grandchildren, Bradley (Brooke) Vincent of Kansas City, Missouri, Christopher (Cassie) Vincent of Wichita, Samuel Leonard and Skylar Leonard of Derby, Andy Tye of Dallas, Texas, and Daniel Tye of Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Verity and Hero Vincent; and sister, Judy Farquer of Newton.

She is preceded by her brother Charles Easton and sister Ruby Froman.

Leanna worked at her mom’s café J & R Grill in Quinter for several years before moving to the Dillon’s Bakery Department in Hutchison.

Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.  Memorial contributions to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter can be sent in the care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, Kansas, 66801.
