Lee Loyd Lowder, Jr., 82, a longtime resident of Allen, Kansas, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Ottawa Retirement Village, Ottawa, Kansas.
Lee was born in Osage County, Kansas on June 30, 1931, the son of Lee L. (Sr.) and Grace (Hetler) Lowder. He married Sylvia Jane Hyde at the Reading Methodist Church, Reading, Kansas on June 17, 1956. She died April 4, 2009.
Surviving family members include his daughter, Anne Katherine Lowder, Overbrook, Kansas; son, Lee Hyde Lowder, Allen; brother, Jim Lowder, Amarillo, Texas; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a son, Robert, who died September 9, 2009; and a sister, Marjorie.
Mr. Lowder was a cattleman, operating the Lowder Ranch in the Allen area for many years. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of American Legion Post #389, Allen. He was a member of Masonic Lodge and Arab Shrine Temple, as well as the K.U. Alumni Association.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Allen United Methodist Church, Allen, Kansas, conducted by Pastor Mark Stukey. Interment will be follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
The family will receive friends at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, Friday evening, March 14, 2014 from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
A memorial has been established with the Allen United Methodist Church, with contributions sent in care of the funeral home.
