Lena M. Lynch, 92, passed away at Vintage Park in Louisburg, Kansas on May 14, 2016.

Lena was born the youngest of five children to Oscar and Ina Danford Huyett near Hartford, Kansas on February 23, 1924. Lena was a twin sister to Dena. Lena’s schooling began at Michigan Valley, Kansas and was completed in Admire, Kansas. Lena married Robert J. Lynch of Miller, Kansas in Napoleon, Ohio on May 30, 1941. After they were married they lived in Detroit, Michigan for four years where their first child, Kenneth was born. Returning to Kansas in 1945, they lived in Wichita, a year before moving to Emporia, where their daughter, Virginia was born.

Lena worked at Hallmark Cards, Crawford Manufacturing and the American Legion in Emporia. She was an immaculate housekeeper and very talented seamstress as well as crocheter, quilter, embroiderer, and also made draperies. After retirement Bob and Lena moved to a new home they literally built themselves in rural Allen, Kansas. After Bob’s death, Lena returned to Emporia then later moved to Louisburg to be near her daughter.

Lena is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Irene Huffman, Marjorie Bowden, and a twin sister, Dena Schemm; brother, Merle Huyett; husband, Bob; son, Kenny; and granddaughter, Lisa Gibson Deskines.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia (Ginger) Lynch and husband Alan Grove of Louisburg, Kansas; grandchildren, Kevin (Tina) Gibson of Ozawkie, Kansas, Jeff ( Jill) Lynch of Emporia, Kristi (Jed) Hemereck of Williamsburg, Kansas; grandson-in-law, Scott (Cheryl) Deskines of Phillips, Nebraska; great-grandchildren, Ashley (Aaron) Conrade and Hannah Lynch of Emporia, Kailee Gibson of Hays, Kody Gibson of Ozawkie, Cody and Emily Hemereck of Williamsburg; great-great-grandson, Braxton Conrade of Emporia; several nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Howard Lynch of Topeka.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Burial will take place at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. Memorial contributions to the Louisburg Library or Grace United Methodist Church may be sent in care of the funeral home.
