Leroy Roscoe "Ross" Rhoads

Leroy Roscoe “Ross” Rhoads, Jr. 58, Emporia, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Ross was born September 11, 1965 in Emporia, the son of Lee Roy and Roberta Inez (Lambeth) Rhoads. He married, and was divorced from, Carrie Phillips Rhoads, Cynthia Jones Rhoads Gehring, and Stacia Dawes Morgan.  Surviving family members include his son: Daniel Stewart Rhoads, Topeka, Kansas, daughter; Tayna Lee (Rhoads) Gehring, Topeka, Kansas, Brothers; Donald Rhoads, Emporia, Ks, Thomas Rhoads, Americus, KS, and Steven Rhoads, Emporia, KS, sister; Virginia (Rhoads) Smith, Emporia, KS, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; Samuel D. and Margaret (Davis) Rhoads, Sr,  Mabel (Cox) Rhoads, and Howard & Edna (Baldwin) Lambeth.

He was employed as a plant operator for the City of Emporia Waste Water Treatment Facility the past 15 years. Ross was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Emporia.  He enjoyed playing pool, shooting darts, smoking meats, playing on his guitar, and listening to country music.

Cremation is planned. A graveside service will be conducted at Lebo Creek Cemetery, south of Lebo, Kansas on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. The service will be conducted by Pastor Joe Tuttle, Bethel Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia Friday evening, November 3 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
