Lester E. Ritter passed from this life May 7, 2013 at his home north of Bushong, Kansas. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Howell Ritter of the home; sons, Ronald Ray Ritter and wife Catherine of Elgin, Oklahoma, and Richard Rey Ritter, of Augusta, Kansas; and grandsons, Ryan Ray, Rocco Ron and Regan Rex of Elgin, Oklahoma.
He was born June 26, 1941, to George Amiel and Mabel McFall Ritter in Clinton, Missouri. His parents, two sisters, and a brother preceded him in death.
Three days after his eighteenth birthday he went to work for Cities Service Natural Gas Company. He remained at that employment for forty six years and four months. The majority of his career was spent as a pipeline welder. He also served his local union in several different capacities, including business manager for twenty years.
Lester was a member of Americus Masonic Lodge #109 AF&AM, Miriam Chapter #14 Order of the Eastern Star, Fort Scott Consistory, and Arab Shrine of Pittsburg.
Welding was his passion and farming his chosen lifestyle. He was happiest when pursuing either one or both.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 10, 2013 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia, Kansas. Masonic Service will be provided by Americus Masonic Lodge #109 AF&AM. Interment will be in the Agnes City Cemetery in North Lyon County, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Hand-In-Hand Hospice or Butler County Cowboy Church, Augusta, Kansas, be sent in care of the funeral home.
