Lillian "Bonnie" L. Fehr

Lillian L. “Bonnie” Fehr, 90, Rural Emporia, Kansas, died at Newman Regional Health, Emporia, Kansas, on Thursday, March 17, 2011.


Lillian Reiff was born at rural Allen, Kansas on April 19, 1920, the daughter of Francis Clayton and Anna (Day) Reiff. Lillian married Vernal J. Fehr at San Diego, California on October 24, 1943. He died May 28, 1976. She resided on the same farm north of Emporia since her marriage.


Surviving family members include: her daughters, LaVaughn K. Gilbert, rural Council Grove, Kansas, and Cindy Smith, Lincoln, Nebraska; her two sons, Joe V. Fehr, and Kevin C. Fehr, both of rural Emporia; grandchildren, Travis Gilbert, Kelly Denison, Sarah Macolm, Todd Gilbert, Susan Graham, Laura Capes, Stacy Regehr, Michael Fehr, Carrie Smith, and Katie Fehr; and 11 great-grandchildren


She was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Moreland, as well as her parents and husband.


Mrs. Fehr was a farm wife. She was also formerly a school teacher, an aircraft welder in World War II, and a cook at Newman Memorial County Hospital (Emporia) and Northern Heights High School (Allen, KS).


Mrs. Fehr was a graduate of Allen (Kansas) High School in 1938, and received her teaching certificate from Kansas State Normal School in Emporia.


She was a member of the Allen United Methodist Church, Allen, Kansas, as well as the Rosean Social Circle, and auxiliaries to the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.


Cremation is planned.


Memorial services will be held at the North Lyon County Youth Association Center, Allen, Kansas, Monday evening, March 21, 2011, at 7:00 PM. The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 PM until service time, and also following the service until 8:30 PM.


Memorials have been established to the North Lyon County Youth Association or the Allen United Methodist Church (both in Allen) with contributions sent in care of the funeral home.
