Linda Kathryn Desmarteau Hedges, 60, passed away at her home in Emporia, Kansas, October 29, 2013.
Linda Kathryn Yockey was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 17, 1953, the daughter of Merle and Marilyn (Korbe) Yockey. She graduated from Wichita South High School in 1971. She married Duane Desmarteau August 21, 1971 in Wichita. They later divorced. She married Jeff Hedges on August 2, 2002; he survives of the home.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff; sons, Doug and Nicole Desmarteau, Iola, Kansas, and Dean and Amanda Desmarteau, Olathe, Kansas; parents, Merle and Marilyn Yockey, Wichita, Kansas; brother, Mike and Pam Yockey, Haysville, Kansas; sisters, Joyce and Rick Sanchez, Derby, Kansas and Julie and Paul Moutray, Wichita; and grandchildren, Anna, Danielle, Harper, Haidyn, and Landon Desmarteau, as well as several nieces and nephews, and their children.
Linda was a department manager for Hopkins Manufacturing Company in Emporia. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia, and had lived in Emporia since 1977.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. The Mass will be celebrated by Father Rich Warsnak of the church. Interment will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 P.M. on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the church. The family will receive friends following the Rosary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with the Sacred Heart School Guardian Angel Fund, Emporia and Hand in Hand Hospice, Emporia.
