Linda L. Hubert, 71, formerly of Emporia, Kansas,died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Linda Lou McDaniel, the daughter of Laurence S. and Libbie Smith McDaniel, was born June 14, 1943 in Emporia. She had one brother, Larry L. McDaniel, who preceded her in death. She married Jim Hubert on May 22, 1966 in Emporia, and was married for 34 years before Jim passed away on October 26, 2000.
Surviving members of the family include two sons, Michael Hubert of Abingdon, Virginia, and Dan Hubert of Shawnee, Kansas; two daughters-in-law, Lori L. Hubert and Missy M. Hubert; and four grandchildren, Jacob Hubert, Caleb Hubert, Sam Hubert and Quincy Hubert.
Linda was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Emporia throughout her life, and had many close friends through that organization. She had been a beautician in Emporia, and after working in the home for a period of time, worked in food service with U.S.D. 253, including multiple years at Walnut and Logan Avenue elementary schools.
She was a proud advocate of organ donation after receiving a donated kidney from her brother in 1992. Among her interests, she greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Cremation is planned.
The memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 24, 2014 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Pastor Michelle Byerly of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the funeral home.
