Sue Rogers (71) of Emporia, Kansas, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.
  
  
  Linda Sue Smith, the daughter of William “Bill” and Hazel Marie Pearson Smith, was born on November 17, 1939 in Emporia, Kansas. She married Lloyd “Bill” Rogers at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Emporia, Kansas on June 26, 1960. He survives of the home.
  
  
  Other surviving members of the family include: two daughters, Ronna Hatcher of Strong City, Kansas, and Jodee Lee of Emporia, Kansas; one sister, Lorna Baxter of Columbia, Missouri; and four grandchildren, Taylor Lee, Tucker Lee, Jordan Hatcher, and Kraig Hatcher. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Hazel Smith.
  
  
  Mrs. Rogers was a housewife, farmer, and rancher. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Emporia. She was a huge supporter of Lyon County 4-H and the Lyon County Fair. She was awarded the Extension Appreciation Award for her support and participation in Lyon County Extension Programs. She was a project leader for many years, and was also a longtime member of the Lyon County Fair Board where she served as the first woman president in 1984 through 1985.
  
  
  The graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 3, 2011, at Union Cemetery, east of Emporia, Kansas. Pastor John Davis of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church will officiate. The family will greet friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
  
  
  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lyon County Fair Board Building Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
