Lola Elaine Farr of rural Emporia died on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. She was 86.
Lola was born on August 24, 1933 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Marvin and Thelma Richard Boyce. She married Lloyd Vene Farr on August 24, 1952 in Emporia. He died on December 31, 1995 in Emporia.
Surviving family members include: sons, Kelly Farr of Emporia, and Kevin Farr of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; daughter, Cathy Stotler of Emporia; grandchildren, Lance Stotler, Crystal Howard, Justin Farr, Kellie Dobson, and Dylan Farr; great-grandchildren, Dutcher Howard, Gage Howard, Garen, Aedan, and Liam Dobson; brother, Glenn Boyce; sisters, Maxine Wieland of Topeka, and Marcia Guard of Emporia.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Gerald Lloyd Farr, great-grandson Andrew Farr, brother Don Boyce, sister Helen Thill.
Lola worked on the farm with Lloyd until the kids were in school before going to work at Newman Regional Health for 28 years before retiring 16 years ago. She was a member of the First Christian Church, and the Ladies Aide. Lola in her later years enjoyed going dancing at the Emporia Senior Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home with burial following at the Chicago Mound Cemetery southeast of Emporia. Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday night at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to the Emporia Senior Center or the Emporia Alzheimer’s Support Group can be sent in care of the funeral home.
