Loretta J. Miller, Emporia, Kansas, formerly of Newton, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Holiday Resort, Emporia, at the age of 82.
Loretta VanKley was born in Hammond, Indiana on August 8, 1932, the daughter of Rev. Albert and Grace (Wagner) VanKley. Loretta was united in marriage with Norman R. Miller in 1951 in Newton. He passed away on January 24, 1999 in Rogers, Arkansas.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Marvin) Brinkman, Emporia; son, Ronald (Jin) Miller, Park City, Kansas; brother, Don (Carol) VanKley, Mesa, Arizona; sister, Sharon (Milton) Wilcox, Phoenix, Arizona; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and grandparents.
Loretta was an Executive Secretary for the Hesston Corporation and Excel Industries in Hesston, Kansas.
Her memberships include the First Church of the Nazarene and the Harvey County Humane Society, where she was a volunteer, both in Newton, Kansas.
Cremation is planned. Private family services will be held at a later date in the Whitewater Cemetery, Whitewater, Kansas.
A memorial has been established with the Emporia Alzheimer’s Support Group. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
