Final Flight

Lt. Col. William Paul “Bill” Bingham, Sr. (USAF, retd.) passed away October 5, 2015, in Panama City, Florida after a brief illness.


A native of Emporia, Kansas, Bill was a graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy and West Point Military Academy. He served his country as a FAC pilot in Vietnam, a test pilot, Command Pilot in the USAF, and was a founding member of Space Command.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul V. and Cora Bingham of Emporia; his wife, Hilda Mae Thomas Bingham; and a daughter, Teri Sue Bingham Phillips.


Survivors include his sons, William Paul Bingham, Jr. of Cairo, Georgia, and Thomas Vern Bingham of Dothan, Alabama.

Bill will be laid to rest beside his parents with full military honors at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Patio Garden of Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Rev. Lee Hoskins, Emporia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s name may be sent to Boys Town, 14100 Crawford St.; Boys Town, NE 68010, one of his favorite charities. Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home is caring for arrangements.
