Lucas Garcia, 90, Emporia, Kansas, died November 20, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Medical Center, Topeka, Kansas.
  
  
  
  
  Lucas Garcia was born November 1, 1923 in Emporia, the son of Jose and Juanita (Sorrento) Garcia.
  
  
  
  
  Mr. Garcia served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the African and Pacific Theaters, and later in the Air Force Reserve. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
  
  
  
  
  He was employed at Didde Web Press as a stores clerk for 24 years. Mr. Garcia had attended Saint Catherine Catholic Church and the Didde Catholic Campus Center.
  
  
  
  
  Among surviving family members are his niece, Mary Hilda Grauel, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and nephew, John Villa, Salt Lake City, Utah.
  
  
  
  
  Those who preceded him in death were his stepmother, Evangelina (Murillo) Garcia; brothers, John, Jesse, Preston, and Luis; and sisters, Carol (Garcia) Ybarra, Anita (Garcia) Villa, and Mary (Garcia) Herrera.
  
  
  
  
  Cremation has occurred.
  
  
  
  
  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Catherine Catholic Church, Emporia, at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 9. The Mass will be celebrated by Father John Cordes of the church. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, with military honors presented by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion, and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
