Lucille Schlesener (98) of Emporia died Wednesday, March 20 at Holiday Resort Care Center. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
Lucille Lohmeyer, the only child of Pettie and Susie Laws Lohmeyer was born May 8, 1920 in Argonia. She married Martin A. Schlesener, Jr. on September 5, 1942 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wichita. He died November 10, 2000.
Lucille was a homemaker and a member of Miriam Chapter #14 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was active with her two children and their special interests during the school years in Emporia. She learned Massage Therapy and provided services as needed. She studied Nutrition and provided information for healthy living as needed. Lucille was a caring friend and neighbor, with a sharp sense of humor. She and Martin traveled often for education seminars and she especially enjoyed the art of Dowsing.
Surviving members of the family include, her daughter, Belinda Schlesener of Emporia and Tommy Harlan Schlesener of Lebo; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
The family will be Celebrating Lucille's Life and celebrating her 99th birthday, Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.at the American Legion Post #5, 2921 West 12th, Emporia, KS 66801. There will be a Order of the Eastern Star service, presented by th3e Miriam Chapter #14 O.E.S.
Memorial donations to the Friends of the Emporia Public Library may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
